Blooming Birdhouse

The pattern is knitted flat and sewn up at the end. You do not need to knit in circles.
The flowers are made of chains, using a crochet hook. You do not need to know crochet techniques. Alternatively, you can embroider flowers.
The pattern comes with a cardboard template but please measure your knitted piece before constructing the cardboard birdhouse.


Finished size: 15cm tall, 14cm wide.

Yarn
For main body
• [A] 20g Honey Brown 4-ply (fingering)
• [B] A small amount of Dark brown DK (8-ply)
• [C] 10g Red Chunky
For decoration
Small amounts of 4-ply yarn in green, pink, orange, yellow, cherry pink
For birds
• Small amounts of 4-ply yarn of your choice
• A pair of 4mm mushroom-shaped amigurumi eye beads or black beads for each bird
• Thread to sew beads
Other supplies
• Cardboard sheet
• Tape
About yarn used
• Sirdar Snuggly 4-ply; Honey 55% Nylon 45% Acrylic, 50g per 226m
For chunky yarn for the roof, I upcycled the yarn I had. Please feel free to use any thick yarn. Cast on a few stitches and see if the short width covers the roof. If you do not have Chunky, knit with DK yarn holding two strands together.

Tools
• 2.75mm knitting needles
• 4mm knitting needles
• Two stitch holders
• 2-3mm crochet hook
• Chenille needle
Tension
• 26 sts x 34 rows = 10cm (not essential)

Practical tips
• Leave long ends for sewing.
• Sew seam with RS facing, using mattress stitch.
